Second Day of Lent

So, today is the second day of lent.  I've been thinking about this blog post all day and can't really come up with anything poignant to say.  Maybe that's ok.

I'll just take the opportunity to say thank you to Jesus for his sacrifice.  He did it for me.  And you.

I pray that I find strength in his willingness to die for my sins.  I'll pray tonight for guidance about what to post on here tomorrow.

  1. I found in psalms by Saint Augustine, a Bishop:

"If in Christ we have been tempted in him we overcome the devil. Do you think only of Christ's temptations and fail to think of his victory? See yourself as tempted in him, and see yourself as victorious in him. He could have kept the devil from himself; but if he were not tempted he could not teach you how to triumph over temptation."

What a GREAT Teacher whose examples we can follow. Thus I would guess evil was in God's plan.

Then to help us find a sport parallel to Fasting: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25.

"While all the runners in the stadium take part in the race, the award goes to one man. In that case, run so as to win! Athletes deny themselves all sorts of things. They do this to win a crown of leaves that wither, but we a crown that is imperishable."

I challenge each of you to be victorious in your Fasting Race this Lent.

Eric, thanks for giving us a way to continue our thoughts from this weekend’s discussion..
